We have a track record of building new technology which dramatically improves the developer experience, including the new native Swift package integration in Xcode 11. On our team you'll have a huge impact, developing new tests Xcode & Swift Packages. You'll directly improve the quality of Xcode, enabling the creation of great Apple products and apps built by developers around the world

You'll do your best work here as you design and architect automated testing solutions, dive deep into the analysis of difficult engineering problems, promote a culture of quality that you can be proud of, and realize your passion to make a positive impact on developers' lives

Description

You'll be automating and maintaining tests for the Xcode IDE and the Swift package manager with a focus on advocating for our developers. Your efforts will benefit developers who build apps, Apple's products and operating systems, server-side Swift, and the open source Swift community. And you will have the opportunity to inspire changes across our developer tools

As Xcode engineers, we use our own developer tools every day. Our team has a wide range of backgrounds and experience but a shared passion for building tools that make software development easier and more accessible

You'll be most successful here as a proactive engineer who thrives in a supportive, respectful, and balanced work environment with interesting and challenging problems to tackle. You'll have excellent judgement and integrity with the ability to make timely and sound decisions

In your role as a Tools & Automation Engineer on the Xcode team, your primary development environment will be the Xcode IDE. You will:
• Spend a majority of your time programming in Swift
• Develop and implement test plans for new features, file interesting bugs, and review your teammates' code
• Have access to the engineers who create Apple's full technology, tools, and operating systems stack
• Collaborate with your teammates through git pull requests, in-person conversations, and Slack
• Build expertise in and responsibility for qualifying specific components of Xcode and the Swift package manager
• Make product design decisions with your teammates
• Actively improve the quality of Xcode & Swift Packages

Education & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
