Job Description

The System Integration and Validation (SIV) team in the Windows Systems and Software (WSS) organization is looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineer to join and lead a team.  We bring Intel's latest client platforms to market with the latest Windows operating systems from Microsoft. The primary deliverable from the team includes an integrated and validated software stack involving the latest Windows OS, 40+ software and firmware ingredients, and 3rd party software ingredients. The job involves creating validation strategies for new and upcoming technologies on the platforms, developing test content, and debugging complex platform-level issues. The candidate will be engaged from concept to production phase involving pre-silicon enabling, power-on of multiple silicon stepping, and post-silicon enabling. In addition, the candidate will be partnering with many teams including but not limited to platform and domain architects, software & firmware ingredient teams, customer-facing teams, and program management office for a successful product launch. The candidate will be part of Multimedia domain team consisting of graphics and audio subsystem.

Minimum qualifications are required to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering or similar technical STEM degree with 3+ years of experience in the following -

  • Computer Architecture, Intel Architecture

  • Operating system, Windows OS, device drivers, SW/FW interactions with hardware, Multithreading

  • Debug methodologies and debugging techniques

  • Developing Validation strategies, validation methodologies

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (with a minimum of 2+ year of experience) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical engineering or similar technical STEM degree

  • Technical fundamentals of Computer Architecture (SBIOS, Hardware, Driver), Operating systems (such as Windows 10, Linux, Chrome OS), and software development process

  • Windows operating system fundamentals with kernel/driver expertise

  • Working with teams across different GEOs

  • Expertise in any of these domains - Audio, Media, Graphics, Camera, Display, Firmware/Bios.

  • POST procedure, some UEFI shell commands, how OS and UEFI interacts, etc.; capture BIOS logs.

  • Working knowledge and skills on scripting languages such as Powershell and Python for test automation

  • Be able to read and understand existing scripts, identify and fix bugs, and program for new features

  • Programming in C/C++ is a plus. Need to be comfortable manipulating low level memory operations, file and memory-mapped APIs.

  • Awareness and knowledge of ITP, PythonSV, and dediprog

  • Familiar with basic Windows troubleshooting and monitoring tools such as: Event viewer, WinDbg, device manager, task Manager, etc.

  • Computer lab related efforts such as building a PC with the needed components for its intended use (will be using Reference boards), installing or removing components, flash/update system and component firmware, and installing OS images and necessary software
