The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&T) in Rolla, Missouri is seeking outstanding applicants for the Wilkens Missouri Professorship in Electrical Engineering in the area of Telecommunications. The position is available at the Full Professor or at the Associate Professor rank for a rising star. The endowed position provides unrestricted research funds. The salary is commensurate with the rank and qualifications of the candidate being sought.

Successful candidates will be expected to have strong commitments to (a) contributing to the departmental and college research efforts, (b) high-quality teaching both at the undergraduate and graduate levels, (c) service in the applicant’s professional community and our institution, and (d) increasing the diversity of both the student body and faculty. For this vacancy, priority will be given to candidates with a sustained record of scholarly research, attracting external funding, excellence in teaching, and international prominence and leadership in telecommunications. Serious consideration will be given to outstanding candidates from areas related to telecommunications. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field. Eligibility for professional engineering registration is considered an asset. Candidates from national labs or industry with a strong research record coupled with academic experience are encouraged to apply as well.

Missouri S&T’s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has 32 faculty members, approximately 575 undergraduate and 160 graduate students, and research expenditures of approximately $5.3M in the past fiscal year. The Electrical Engineering program has research strengths in power and energy systems, devices, control and systems, cyber-physical systems, communications and networking, electromagnetic compatibility, and in computer engineering, networking, high-speed digital design, security, and computational intelligence, which directly relate to university-wide strategic initiatives in the interdisciplinary signature area of Manufacturing and Smart Living. The university has many research Centers, such as Intelligent Systems Center, Material Research Center, and others, that faculty are affiliated with for their research activities.
