Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Systems Engineering Research Division (SERD) seeks Web Technology Software Engineering student research assistants in the Applied Decision Systems Branch (ADSB).

Developing front-end web applications using contemporary JavaScript frameworks (e.g. Angular, React, Vue.js)
Designing interactive visual analytics and implementing with JavaScript libraries (e.g. d3)
Reviewing peer-developed code to ensure conformance with coding standards, accuracy in implemented logic, and proficiency in implementation approach
Designing, implementing, and executing automated tests, both unit and integration tests, to verify software functionality.
Manage a software development task as part of a larger project effort

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree in a field related to software development (e.g. Software Engineering, Computer Science, HCI, etc.)
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must have experience with one of the following JavaScript frameworks: Angular, React, Vue.js, Ember 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with JavaScript visualization libraries (e.g. d3)
  • Experience with the Atlassian software development support tool stack (e.g. JIRA, BitBucket, Confluence)
  • Active in the open source community (e.g. GitHub, BitBucket, Stack Overflow)

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
