Role Number:200194976

The Watch System EE Validation team is looking for an enthusiastic engineer who is highly skilled at scripting, employing software means to find problems in hardware. You are deft at test architecture, test implementation and execution, custom data extraction, and data analysis applying various techniques to gain insight on component response to various noise sources.

If you are a hands-on problem solver who enjoys applying knowledge and learning new things, this may be the opportunity for you to join our team.

Key Qualifications

  • Your three (3) plus years of related industry engineering experience will immediately make you a contributing member of the team.
  • Excellent team collaborator, and thrives in a cross-functional environment
  • Your current team considers you highly skilled at Python (automation, data structures and their manipulation, text and CSV parsing, error handling, unit testing, variety of external packages like NumPy and pyserial)
  • You have experience collaborating on projects with thousands of lines of code
  • Experience with sampled systems and digital signal processing
  • Experience dealing with gigabytes of data, and applying various statistical analysis techniques (spec validation, data visualization, mean, median, standard deviation, correlation, analysis of variance)
  • Possess good electrical engineering fundamentals for grasping schematics, system architecture, and circuits
  • You enjoy travel overseas
  • NICE TO HAVE (the more of these with practical use the better for you):
  • Experience with on health-related technologies and sensors
  • Embedded system design experience
  • Hardware validation and/or hardware design experience
  • Familiarity with machine learning
  • Experience with various radio technologies (LTE, WiFi, and BlueTooth)

Description

This is the opportunity to work on complex issues impacting the product design and architecture to deliver a world-class user experience for Apple Watch. Discover the 'hidden schematic' of system coexistence, the various ways a noise source couples and affects a sensitive subsystem. With so many components packed together, how does one subsystem impact another?

You will spend your time working cross-functionally to design, develop, and implement tests for design-of-experiments, and at-scale data collection in the factory. A critical aspect is ensuring the data pipeline between the factory and cross-functional teams is continuously delivering the data of interest. About 75% of your time will be spent with Python scripts, and data analysis, with the remaining time spent in hardware design.

Education & Experience

A BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, or Computer Engineering is strongly preferred. Equivalent experience with a degree in another field, such as Physics, is acceptable.
