Job Description

As optical based technologies advance in communications, sensing, and IC packaging, Intel has a strong leadership position in silicon photonics, the fundamental technology that will enable these continued advancements.  This leadership position continues to advance based on Intels continued investments into optics R&D and Manufacturing as well as advanced packaging. 

Intel is recruiting for an operations leadership position within SPPD, with two primary objectives: 

  • Driving the communication product margins to best-in-class in the industry through tactical scaling, technology, cost management, and leveraging the existing silicon photonics leadership from the fab through final product assembly/test.

  • Defining and executing on an operational strategy that leverages over 20 years of Intel investments in Optics to enable Intel to become a market leader in higher speed communication devices, sensors, optical IC packaging and other new markets.

The tactical requirements include building and strengthening the existing SPPD operations teams and highly leveraging the existing outsourced partners.  The leader for Operations will tightly manage all aspects of the products, including quickly scaling new product introductions, internal and external costs, component and product yields, customer satisfaction and commits, product quality and other critical operational metrics.  These metrics extend from basic materials growth and fundamental device fabrication through multiple outsourced packaging and product assembly providers.


Qualifications

A proven leader with strong tactical organizational development skills, including the ability to efficiently leverage multiple corporate support teams as well as external suppliers.  Experience with ERP-like systems is a must for materials planning and sourcing.  Knowledge of electrical or optical silicon and Indium Phosphide Laser manufacturing processes is essential.  This role will require extensive experience in working with both internal and external manufacturing partners.  The ability to reduce inventory, product risk and obsolescence by deployment of lean operational methods is also a critical skill.  The leader for this role will need to negotiate and execute on complex external contracts and leverage internal corporate teams to support best-in-class supplier performance.  Lastly, a leader is needed with a proven track record of success to drive down costs and implement best in class processes.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering or other industry-related field required.
