The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is responsible for all manufacturing related activities within the Ultra Precession Machining Center factory. The Ultra Precession Machining Center machines metal components that are delivered to multiple assembly factories for integration. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of up to 25 touch labor employees. The VSL will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and collaborate with functional management to achieve production requirements.

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities related to machining of metal parts and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The candidate must be willing to work any shift assigned as the Ultra Precession Machining Center factory operates on a 24 hour, 5 days a week production schedule. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform the manufacturing leadership role within a machine shop setting.

The candidate must currently have a DoD Secret Clearance or have the ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance.


The Value Stream Lead is responsible for, but not limited to the following:
  • Manage and lead up to 25 touch personnel
  • Coordinate on-boarding activities, communicate security requirements, safety, reporting, communicate department policies and procedures, coordinate training
  • Timecard and Attendance Management
  • Factory Leadership interface and interactions
  • Cost / Quality / Schedule performance
  • Safety compliance
  • Communication of Value Stream Manager requirements
  • Interface with other Value Stream Leaders across shifts and other factories
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
  • Prioritizes project issues and assists in the resolutions process to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements
  • Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
  • Ensure compliance to all pertinent operating procedures and work instructions
  • Bargaining Unit Agreement & Compliance
  • TEE management
  • PCR Feedback
  • Support of Layer Process Assessments (LPAs)
  • Security Compliance
  • Quality Compliance (Torque Verification / ESD / FOE / Audit / Training / Certification)
  • Contingency Planning/Execution to schedule
  • Shift Change/OT Equalization Management
  • Daily coordination and facilitation of Tier I/II Meetings
  • Support Tier III meetings
  • Overtime coordination and Management
  • OTIS reporting
  • Participate in Factory weekend coverage
  • Maintain SME Lists Qualification Training (compliance / accuracy)
  • QT management
  • Schedule classes with Technical Training (as requested)
  • Cross Training Plan for touch labor
  • TAKT management
  • Team Facilitation
Please Note: This position can be a Team Leader Manufacturing or Team Leader I Manufacturing based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance within one year of start date

Required Experience:

A minimum of 0-2+ years experience in at least one of the following areas:
  • Manufacturing Support Function
  • Shop Floor Management
  • Team Facilitation
  • Precision Machine Shop Environment
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
Desired Attributes:
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment
  • Knowledge of Quality practices, MTE practices and instructions
  • Labor management
  • Lean manufacturing application
  • Knowledge of existing RMS execution systems (PRISM, SAP)
  • Understanding of sequencing for fabrication, assembly, installation, testing and other manufacturing operations relation to specific portion of the product.
Required Education:

Bachelors Degree or related experience may be used in lieu of education

This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement. Employment is contingent on other factors, including, but not limited to, background checks and drug screens.
