IoT Experiences Team, Intel Corporation, Internet of Things Group

IoT Experiences is a team of UX architects, designers, researchers and writers within Intel's Internet of Things Group. One of our team's key priorities is to ensure that Intel's Internet of Things platforms deliver a fantastic developer experience.

We are looking for a UX Designer who can define an industry-leading developer experience for Intel's IoT Edge Tools. Working closely with the User Experience Architect, Product Management and the Engineering team, the UX designer will be responsible for designing all aspects of the developer experience, including out-of-box experience, web portal, development environment, and development tools. Work will include concept development, interaction and interface design, storyboarding, and interactive experiential prototype development.

Candidates should have experience defining and documenting interaction models and flows for the entire user journey, ensuring a seamless experience across different touchpoints.

In this role, you will work on an ambitious cross-disciplinary team, putting your technical know-how to work to creatively solve challenging problems that are critical to Intel's success. You should have a "can do" spirit, willingness to consider different technical and business approaches to hairy problems and a proven track record of driving from ambiguity to clear and impactful outcomes. We're seeking an individual with a passion and experience for turning ideas into reality and carrying impact through to Intel's partners and customers. Experience with current software development tools, processes, and practices at all levels of a solution stack would be extremely valuable.

Job responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Collaborate with internal User Experience teams to align on interaction design patterns and visual design assets, leading the creation of a Design System and establishing its governance model for maintenance and improvement

  • Collaborate with design and research team members to synthesize research insights into design implications/requirements

  • Explore, develop, and visualize interaction and interface concepts through wireframes, storyboards, or other dynamic media

  • Create interactive walkthroughs and experiential prototypes for user evaluation and assessment

  • Deliver complete interaction specifications

  • Deliver final visual assets

  • Communicate interaction concepts to internal and external stakeholders, presenting design concepts to audiences with a wide variety of (mostly technical) backgrounds

The ideal candidate will have the following skills in addition to the qualifications listed below:

  • High tolerance for a dynamic work environment with rapidly changing priorities

  • Excellent written/verbal communication and presentation skills

  • Strong visualization skills (e.g. storyboarding, sketching, etc.)

  • Strong Visual Design Skills

  • Wild creativity paired with strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills


Candidate must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

Candidate must have a BS or MS degree in UX Design, Interaction Design, or related discipline.

6+ years of experience in the following:

  • Demonstrated practical design experience on a variety of products and platforms

  • Demonstrated experience in standing up and maintaining company-wide Design Systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on collaborative team projects in interaction and UI design

  • Experience with iterative prototyping within a design process

  • Experience with designing and prototyping tools such as Adobe Creative Suite and Sketch
