Job Description

GTRI's Signals and Systems Division (SASD) in the Advanced Concepts Laboratory seeks qualified candidates for the position of an Undergraduate Intern in Atlanta, Georgia to work in the Intelligence Analysis Branch (IAB). This position involves the scientific and technical research, modeling, and quantitative/qualitative analysis of current and projected foreign technologies, capabilities, weapon systems, and strategies to inform U.S. government R&D, acquisitions, experimentation efforts and policies. SASD engages in research in advanced threat analysis, operational employment concepts, advanced EM spectrum management, test and evaluation, and knowledge management primarily through the application of modeling and simulation.

Due to the nature of the work at GTRI, job duties will depend upon contract and sponsor needs. Students could participate in the following projects/tasks:

Analysis of foreign governments, foreign militaries, and cultures of foreign nations
Analysis of U.S. and foreign policies, including cybersecurity policies, that impact the U.S.'s national security strategy
Quantitative and qualitative analysis of large information libraries and data sets
Computational model development

Required Minimum Qualifications

Intern

  • Pursuing a Bachelors degree at Georgia Tech in Computer Science, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Public Policy, International Affairs, Applied/Modern Languages, Sociology, Psychology, or Neuroscience; or Analytics and Data Science Track within another related discipline
  • 2.0 or higher cumulative GPA 
  • Excellent analytical skills, including demonstrated experience with one or more of the following: quantitative/statistical/computational modeling, agent-based game modeling, structural equation modeling, quantitative correlational and exploratory/confirmatory factor analysis, qualitative content analysis of text, qualitative discourse analysis
  •  Experience with a programming language (examples include Java, Python, or R)
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral (examples include reports, publications in journals, and presentations at conferences or to business leaders

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with a foreign language
Familiarity with research of foreign governments and foreign culture
Familiarity with cybersecurity and cybersecurity policy

Hours per Week

10-20 hours per week

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
