Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institutes's (GTRI) Trusted Microelectronics Program Office (TMPO) seeks a motivated junior Research Faculty engineer with an embedded HW/SW background to lead and manage a diverse team of student researchers in the development of novel cutting-edge hardware designs and performing digital hardware analysis to support microelectronics security research.

Junior Researchers in this posting will be responsible for all aspects of Student researcher management and coordination. Candidates will be responsible for managing all student research positions to include single-semester internships, Student Assistantships, Co-op, Student Tech Temps, GRAs, and GTRI Intern program participants (e.g. URIP, TagEd). Management responsibilities will include student recruitment, maintaining and posting internship PVA positions, reviewing applicants, coordinating and conducting phone screens and on-site interviews, and working with TMPO leadership with hiring decisions.

In addition, candidates in this position will be expected to provide leadership and oversite for any and all students who are currently employed, including onboarding, maintaining appropriate staffing and project allocations, verifying and signing timesheets, and providing any appraisal input at the conclusion of their employment.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Associate II

  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Candidate should have a strong understanding of embedded systems, hardware design, digital logic design, and various hardware architectures.
  • Candidate should have experience leading (either at PI/PD or as a Task Lead) on at least one research effort (IRADs are acceptable) where they have demonstrated working with, and tasking, at least one student during the course of that effort.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience recruiting, interviewing, and managing multiple student researchers concurrently
