Job Summary:

The Welder and Mechanical Fabrication Lead Tech will work in a Multi-Program area, responsible for executing a variety of mechanical fabrication efforts at an exceptional level, while collaborating in an integrated team environment with fellow support technicians, engineers, and internal and external engineering customers.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Welding and fabricating premium quality parts and assemblies from metal
  • Work to sketches and dynamic, underdeveloped drawing sets
  • Will work within the mechanical fabrication shop, applying the best methods for implementing builds to meet customer requirements
  • Responsible for all aspects of fabrication including managing schedule, completing work, setup, and operating of machinery, welding with TIG and MIG machines.
  • Report to the Assembly, Integration and Test Section Lead within the Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication department
  • Produce one-of-a-kind quality, in-tolerance finished products

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Requires High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) and a minimum of (8) eight years of welding and metal fabrication experience, with the ability to certify in D1 and D17 disciplines
  • Requires a minimum (8) eight years of experience interpreting blueprints and or schematic drawings
  • Requires a minimum of (8) eight years of experience working with sheet metal, using tools such as: hand sheet metal rollers, tube benders and notchers
  • Experience in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)
The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Current welding certification in D1 and D17 disciplines
  • Basic experience in the development and manipulation of computer generated 3D models in Creo, AutoCAD or Solidworks
  • Competent computer skills, including full working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to effectively communicate, including strong written communication skills
  • Enjoys working in a hands on-environment
  • Self-starter, who cheerfully accepts work assignments and drives them to completion
  • Analytical thinker, enjoys solving complex problems, with extreme attention to detail
