The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the George Washington University (GWU) invites applications for a tenured/tenure-track faculty appointment starting as early as Fall 2020 at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in system design, particularly in the area of digital hardware with applications to autonomous systems.

The successful candidate will complement existing research strengths in computer architecture, nanotechnology, and communication networks, and create new synergies among mechanical engineering, biomedical engineering, and computer science. Secondary appointments in other departments may be considered if desired by the candidate. Applicants with expertise in any aspect of autonomous systems hardware will be considered, including but not limited to digital circuits and interfacing, digital chip design, and embedded and reconfigurable hardware.

Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must have an earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a relevant discipline at time of appointment; must demonstrate a solid publication record; must have established or exhibit potential to establish a strong, externally sponsored research program, commensurate with the rank they are seeking; and must be committed to excellence in teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

The ECE department has 18 tenure-track faculty including 6 IEEE Fellows, and has experienced significant research growth in the last few years. The department is housed in the new 500,000 sq. foot Science and Engineering Hall consisting of state-of-the-art laboratory and instructional facilities.
