Position Announcement
The Department of Computer Science at California State University Dominguez Hills invites applications for a Tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor with the appointment starting in Fall 2019. The Department seeks dynamic and productive candidates who are committed to academic excellence.
Department of Computer Science
The Department (web: http://csc.csudh.edu) offers a B.S. degree in Computer Science[1], a M.S. degree in Computer Science, a M.S. degree in Cyber Security, a B.S. degree in Information Technology, and a B.A. degree in Computer Technology. The Department with its eight full-time and 16 part-time faculty is serving a total of about 700 majors and growing.
Mission
The mission of the Computer Science Department is the creation and transmission of knowledge about the computer science discipline and profession. The mission has three components: teaching and learning, research and scholarship, and service. Foremost in the department mission is the commitment to excellence in all of three areas.
The department strives to prepare students well for either graduate school or a professional career. Our graduates are expected to be able to make the connection between theory and application. We support our faculty efforts to expand the body of knowledge, disseminate their findings through publication and consulting, and engage in intellectual inquiry. Our faculty are involved in curriculum development, textbook writing, and pedagogical innovations. Faculty members are encouraged to play a service role on the campus, throughout the CSU system, and in the local community.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities include teaching, research, scholarship, and service. Published research is expected and is a requirement for tenure and promotion.

Employment Requirement – Background Check
Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
