Tenure-Track Faculty Position

The School of Engineering Science at Simon Fraser University, British Columbia, Canada, invites applications for a tenure-track research faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Excellent applicants in Engineering Science with a research focus in electronics, communications, biomedical, systems/robotics, computer engineering, engineering physics, or quantum technologies will be considered. 

Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in research, graduate student supervision, and teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The ability to bridge disciplines is desirable. A Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or related areas by the date of appointment is required. The School of Engineering Science is CEAB accredited, hence successful candidates should either have a Canadian Professional Engineering licence or at a minimum secure such qualification as soon as possible after appointment. The ideal candidate is expected to possess and demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or another closely related discipline; Ph.D. candidates in these areas who are close to completion will also be considered.
  •  Demonstrated potential for research excellence.
  • Proven excellence in developing and teaching engineering courses at the undergraduate and (where applicable) graduate levels.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Excellent communication skills and commitment to a team based working culture.
  • Eligibility to register as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC) as soon as possible after appointment.
