The Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the School of Engineering at Fairfield University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise in the general area of Cyber and/or Network Security. However, excellent candidates from all areas of Computer Science and Engineering will be considered.

Primary responsibilities for the position include: Developing and maintaining a nationally recognized research program; publishing in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings; obtaining sponsored funding in support of research programs; teaching undergraduate and graduate coursework in Computer Science and related Engineering areas; advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students; serving the profession through involvement in professional societies and engaging as an active member of the Fairfield University community.

Required qualifications: Doctoral degree in computer science, computer engineering, or closely related area must be completed by the time of appointment; evidence of research/scholarship; ability to articulate a coherent agenda of research or scholarship and to identify potential funding sources to support such research; some level of teaching experience at the undergraduate and/or graduate level.

Fairfield’s Computer Science and Engineering Department offers an innovative, experiential curriculum at the undergraduate level. At the graduate level, the Department oversees a Master in Software Engineering and an interdisciplinary Master in Applied Data Science. New state-of-the-art Cybersecurity and Data Science laboratories are scheduled to open during the academic year 2019-2020.
