Tenure Track Assistant Professor in AI-Planning in Dynamic Environments

To begin as soon as possible. The position is a W2 fixed-term (6 year) tenure-track professorship with the possibility for promotion to a tenured W3.

Scientific Environment

The professorship belongs to the TUM Department of Informatics and in the future to the TUM School of Computation, Information & Technology and is affiliated with the Munich School of Robotics and Machine Intelligence (MSRM), an integrative research center developing innovative and sustainable methods and technologies in the fields of Robotics, Perception and Artificial Intelligence (https://www.msrm.tum.de).

Responsibilities

The responsibilities include research and teaching as well as the promotion of early-career scientists. We seek to appoint an expert in the research area of AI-planning in dynamic environments with a focus on • Artificial intelligence with focus on task and mission planning, and reasoning combined with machine learning and optimization for intelligent control of single robotic systems to entire heterogeneous collaborative fleets. • Development and optimization of methods and applications, with methodological bridges into machine learning, for example into reinforcement learning. Teaching responsibilities include courses in the university’s bachelor and master programs.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have demonstrated initial scientific achievements and the capacity for independent research at the highest international level. A university degree and an outstanding doctoral degree or equivalent scientific qualification, as well as pedagogical aptitude, are prerequisites.
