The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC) is within the Systems Integration & Test directorate at RMD. The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC) includes all of the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test on all Raytheon Missile Defense (RMD) products. Our engineers are responsible for all elements of the development lifecycle for test including: test requirements, test system design, flight simulations, Hardware-in-the-Loop, Computer-in-the-Loop, advanced engineering prototyping technology, flight operations for manned and unmanned vehicles, environmental testing, environmental characterization and engineering laboratory management. We are hands-on, designing with the latest technology and tools, and integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.

The Hardware-in-the-Loop Electro Optical department is looking for a Mechanical Drafter with experience designing, developing and integrating mechanical systems.
The individual will be responsible for the design, fabrication, integration, and documentation of mechanical systems for test equipment, test environments and test articles. The individual is expected to work in a cross-functional team environment and will contribute during all stages of development of missile test projects.



Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Design and documentation of mechanical systems
  • 3D modeling
  • Drawing development and drawing release of components, fixtures, mechanical assemblies, chassis assemblies, cable assemblies, or/and test environment racks
  • Prepare technical analysis reports and to present in design reviews
  • Applying geometric dimensioning and tolerancing to drawings and designs
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of designed products.

This position can be a Technical Support, Mechanical Drafter II or a Sr Technical Support, Mechanical Drafter I, based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position


Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Requires a related BS or BA degree or willing to consider two (2) years of directly related experience in lieu of every one (1) year of education, plus two (2) or more years of directly related experience
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with emphasis in 3D modeling, mechanical design or drafting and drawing/documentation creation and release
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with ProE/Creo Parametric or comparable CAD modeling software
  • Previous work experience with Configuration Management processes
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance


Qualifications We Value:
  • Four (4) or more years of progressive technical/engineering experience with an emphasis on mechanical design, 3D modeling, and documentation creation
  • BS in Mechanical Drafting, Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field
  • Experience with the development, management, and release of drawing packages, including performing drawing reviews and leading drawings through the release process
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • Self-starter, able to manage personal workload with a demonstrated ability to manage time and resources to meet assigned deadlines
  • Customer oriented and driven to meet or exceed expectations
  • Excellent communication skills/presentation skills and the ability to work cohesively in a diverse environment
  • Familiarity with electrical hardware design
  • Experience with PTC Windchill (Common PDM) or other configuration management application
  • Experience creating engineering estimates for work to be performed
