Job Summary:
The Raytheon Missiles & Defense (RMD) Technical Accounting team has an immediate opening for the role of Technical Accounting Professional to serve as the primary point of contact for a RMD Mission Area. In this role, you will also be tasked with leading and assisting in special projects to support both Corporate and RMD requests. This role is key to ensuring timely and accurate assessments are performed to support the revenue and bookings reported by the business. The core responsibilities of the team are the review of new contracts under US GAAP and Company policies for revenue recognition timing and method, review of quarterly Estimate At Complete (EAC) packages, and providing guidance to the broader organization on policies and procedures. The role will also support the Internal Controls Excellence (ICE) team in areas such as process improvement projects, site visits (virtual/-in-person) to RMD locations, and various controls-related deliverables.
The Technical Accounting team supports the Business Controller organization through Estimate at Complete (EAC) compliance, contract reviews, quarterly financial reporting, assessing transactions under US GAAP and Company Policy, ICE, completing finance projects, finance policy councils, leading the adoption of new accounting standards, and providing accounting training to the broader finance organization.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  1. Serve as the primary Technical Accounting point of contact for a RMD Mission Area.
  2. Assess and conclude on the treatment of new awards for revenue recognition, timing of booking, and number of performance obligations under Company policy and US GAAP.
  3. Perform reviews of quarterly EAC packages for long-term contracts.
  4. Provide guidance on US GAAP and Company policies to the broader finance organization.
  5. Document assessments in whitepapers and provide recommendations based on accounting research into nonstandard accounting transactions or complex areas.
  6. Assist in the preparation of quarterly financial reporting deliverables such as the segment Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A) and the quarterly business performance review.
  7. Assist in Technical Accounting special projects such as Company and segment-level policy harmonization and maintenance, data analysis to support Corporate or management requests, and process improvement projects.
  8. Participate in ICE projects or initiatives to improve processes, systems, templates, and tools for greater efficiency or accuracy to support the internal financial control environment.
  9. Perform special reviews under direction of the RMD Controller to assess the broader internal control environment to include evaluations of RMD global sites.
  10. Coordinate the ongoing assessment of compliance with Raytheons Anti-Corruption Sustainment program.
  11. Ensure the Companys sustained SOX compliance through assisting in review of walkthroughs for key cycles and annual risk assessments.
  12. Serve as a point of contact for the external audit team through the quarterly review and annual audit procedures.
An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Master's is equal to 3 years of experience.

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics or related
  • 8+ years of relevant, accounting/financial work experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
  • Experience with basic financial accounting concepts and processes
Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience in public accounting or equivalent industry positions in financial reporting or technical accounting
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Knowledge of the financial control requirements of the Sarbanes-Oxley regulations
  • Working knowledge of IT systems such as data warehouses and ERP software
  • Proficiency in financial and reporting software
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work in a matrix environment with a great deal of autonomy
