Job Summary:

An Engineering Support Technician is responsible for the building, installing, troubleshooting, repairing testing and inspecting Engineering Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), assemblies, antennas and cable/harness systems. Work includes Engineering prototyping, field service, test, debug and repair of returned materials. Loading software and configuring hardware via terminals / GUI applications is required. Candidates will be able to rework and modify engineering micro-sized components on CCAs, prototype sub-assemblies, completed assemblies and cable/harness systems per Engineering drawings, schematics, or work instructions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the skills and knowledge required to effectively and efficiently troubleshoot, repair or replace components and wiring to ensure installations meet Engineering conformity. He or she will demonstrate effective cable/harness repair techniques using acceptable practices including splicing, crimping, soldering and pinning of wiring. The candidate will ensure that all work performed is properly and completely documented and ready for use. Verification/Inspection may be required and candidate will need to be able to identify and document findings per authorizing protocols. The candidate will also provide on the job recommendations in solving hardware integration issues with mid and upper level Engineering and Leadership. The candidate will comply with the companys FOD program, tool control program and all safety regulations. The candidate may perform duties at various company locations.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Modify, rework, and populate Engineering Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs), cables, assemblies, and subassemblies to ensure proper operation per established criteria. Perform required repairs to returned/damaged units to an operational state. This includes:
  • Micro-soldering under a microscope.
  • Quality verification/inspection under a microscope
  • Identifying, repairing and replacing damage to wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Building cable and electromechanical assemblies with limited / no manufacturing aids (build to print).
  • Replacing mechanical and electrical components.
  • Recognizing failures and isolating problems and suggesting appropriate corrective action.
  • Keeping management appraised of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect schedules or quality.
  • Loading software, firmware and configuring hardware and devices.
  • Perform system, subsystem and component level testing as required to advance product to its final state.
  • Providing support to the Engineering development team on all assignments, and supporting other lab assignments within our department.
Dual Grade req info - This position can be a Technical Support Specialist Sr. or a Staff Technical Support Specialist, based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 5 years of directly related experience.
  • Past work experience in or understanding of aerospace industry methods and processes.
  • Verification/Inspection experience with associated standards, processes, and documentation.
  • Recent work experience with solder associated standards, processes, and documentation.
  • Recent work experience with quality standards, processes, and documentation.
  • Recent work experience with mechanical standards, processes, and documentation.
  • Experience working within an Engineering Technical Support Environment.
  • Recent experience using hand tools such as soldering iron, cutters, wire strippers, X-acto knives, electric heat gun, and fixtures such as molds and mandrels.
  • Experience working with Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Experience working with configurable devices / equipment.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

  • Fabrication Standards, Processes, and Documentation.
  • Experience with repair and maintenance on automated placement, SMT, soldering, cleaning, and coating equipment
  • Ability to load software, configure and troubleshoot equipment
  • Ability to fabricate special tooling to complete one-of-a-kind tasking
  • Existing security clearance
