Job Summary:
The Systems Engineer (systems administrator focus) will provide information technology and networking support of the Navys newest surface combatant Radar and Combat System integration at the Navys Land Based integration facility. The SPY-6 radar is a high performance, complex shipboard S-band AESA radar system being integrated with the Navys newest Aegis Combat System Baseline. The role involves working collaboratively with other SMEs and team members under the direction of the group lead.

This Systems Engineer role is based out of Massachusetts (Tewksbury or Marlborough), but will require at least 50% travel to one of our remote radar site locations or shipyards across the United States. Local travel will be required between Raytheon facilities in the Northeast. While supporting the radar sites, the role may require the employee to support off-shift and extended hours.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
In support of Radar and Combat System integration and testing, the Systems Engineer will:
  • Perform the responsibilities of System Admin for the SPY-6 system
  • Maintain the hardware configuration of test equipment and tactical hardware
  • Perform processing hardware and network hardware diagnostic health checks and resolve resulting issues
  • Support integration and test activities in house or at site locations (at least 50% domestic travel will be required)
  • Report task status to program and/ or site leadership

Qualification You Must Have:
  • Typically requires Bachelors degree and 5 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 3 years of relevant experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Server skills and experience consistent with CompTIA Server+ Certification, including: HP server hardware, Windows Server Domain Controllers, installing, managing, and maintaining network attached storage, security protocols and hardening, troubleshooting, server maintenance and upgrades
  • Red Hat Linux skills and experience consistent with Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) including: shell scripting, system deployment, management, configuration, and maintenance including software installation and updates, and security
  • Experience with network switching and switch administration
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance; only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Willingness to travel to off-site locations to support integration and test activities

Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience with Ethernet and infiniband switches
  • Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • CompTIA Server+ Certification
  • IAT Level II Certification
  • Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF) security standards, SCAP scanning, ACAS scanning, STIGs
  • Experience with Cyber mitigation (Application Whitelisting, ACLs, RBAC)
  • Experience with Radius, IdM (Identity Management)
  • Experience with Luks encryption
  • Experience with System monitoring software, preferably OpManager
  • Experience with NetApp configuration, management and troubleshooting
  • Experience with DDS communications
  • Experience with network protocol analyzer tools such as wireshark
  • Experience configuring network devices using Dell OS9 or Cisco IOS command line
  • Willingness to support long term assignment at customer site, up to 1 year in duration
