Key responsibilities include:

  • Performs the programming on various control systems (PLC, PC, HMI and servo controller) for mandates assigned by the project manager, while respecting cost objectives and deadlines. This means;
    • Program Allen-Bradley controllers (CompactLogix, ControlLogix) with RSLogix 5000/Studio 5000 using the appropriate languages (ladder, SFC, function block and Structured Text);
    • Program B&R controllers (C70, PPC2200) with Automation Studio by using the Structured Text language;
    • Program the Allen-Bradley ME and SE operator interfaces with FactoryTalk View Studio;
  • Participate in the start-ups and debugging of assigned mandates and documents the tests results. Tasks can include motor calibration, servo motor parameter adjustment, detection and correction of wiring issues;
  • Preparing documentation associated to assigned mandate: functional requirements, programming concepts and logic, as well as validation related documentation;
  • Assists project managers in the preparation and execution of customer orders with regard to control systems;
  • Assists service technicians in customer startups or complex troubleshooting by optimizing response time and associated costs. If required, can be called to intervene directly at the customers site;
  • Assists R&D by recommending improvements or developing certain features that can be integrated into the range of our standard products;
  • Assisting the sales department in preparing quotes on all aspects related to control systems;
  • Evaluating whether or not our products respect our customers technical requirements (URS), establishing the functionalities required to be in accordance while minimizing risks;
  • Preparing feasibility evaluations on electrical projects by clarifying deliverables, confirming hypothesis, and making appropriate recommendation to application specialists, project managers or service department;
  • Preparing costs evaluations on controls systems that are in line with feasibility evaluations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Electrical engineer (OIQ member);
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in design of automated equipment;
  • Bilingual, French and English, both written and spoken;
  • Programming of programmable automation systems:
  • Control platforms: Allen-Bradley CompactLogix / ControlLogix Platform and RSLogix / Studio 5000 Programming Software.
  • Allen-Bradley MicroLogix Platform and RSLogix 500 Programming Software
  • Programming language: Ladder, Grafcet (SFC), Function Block and Structured Text.
  • Knowledge of servomotor controllers and their programming (Kinetix from Allen-Bradley)
  • Programming of operator interfaces from Allen-Bradley (PanelView Plus FactoryTalk View ME and SE):
  • Team spirit and be able to work under pressure;
  • Be available for occasional travel.
