If you are interested in being on the team that builds high performance supercomputers and enables scientists to do cutting-edge research, read on.  The Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics Group's High-Performance Computing Systems Integration Team is looking for someone to join us.

Our solutions are being used today to solve some of the world's most challenging scientific problems such as bio-medical research (COVID-19), climate research, genome analysis, and renewable energy - all which require the world's fastest supercomputers to tackle. Intel needs your help to deliver the next generation in HPC systems and technology.

We have a need for a System Software Validation Engineer with experience in software toolchains, applications, post-Si validation, triage and/or debug work.  A large part of the responsibilities will be to work with the Compiler and Software Applications, and Validation teams, to analyze, diagnose, and resolve simple to medium application compilation and runtime issues, isolate failures and create small reproducible test cases from large applications to enable the validation of the Aurora and future Exascale+ Systems.  This work includes partnering closely with other teams, installing, and testing the latest versions of the software, and collaborating with key customers.  In addition, there is the opportunity to develop new tests content, as gaps are identified.


  • Understand and execute/debug driver-level through system software content and applications

  • Partner with SW teams (compilers, libraries, frameworks) for joint validation and debug strategy

  • Integrate cutting edge hardware and software (CPU, GPU, Fabric) into early validation and debug small-rack Exascale class systems up to on-site large-scale Customer Exascale class systems.

  • Create test and debug content to validate system-level SW integration and/or validate new software features to enable execution and performance on silicon (Si) and/or board.

  • Participate in Power-Ons, Volume Validation and Triage/Debug Tiger Teams, and interact with 3rd party and end customers.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • A Masters Degree in Electrical, Electronic or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science or a related discipline and 2+ years experience

OR a

  • A Bachelors Degree in Electrical, Electronic, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science, or a related discipline, and 3+ years experience

Your Experience Must Include the Following:

  • Working with Linux OS

  • Understanding of the technical fundamentals of Computer Architecture (BIOS, Hardware, Driver)

  • Software development, debug, validation, and/or integration, and/or relevant validation experience.

  • Knowledge of data structures, computer architecture, operating systems, compilers and/or libraries, and multithreaded programming

  • System debug skills

  • C/ C++, Python, Fortran, or another similar coding language, in order to create system software unit tests, perform testing experiments, documenting results and scripting solutions for automation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with High Performance Computing and/or cluster level debug

  • Ability to isolate system failures through applications and end-user code (MPICH, MPI)

  • Understanding of Intels architecture and micro-architecture

  • Hands-on lab experience with JTAG-based hardware debug tools

  • Experience with hardware system debug tools including logic/network analyzers

  • Experience with documenting plans, coding, and storing artifacts in a source-controlled environment

  • Familiarity with GIT
