Intel's Silicon Photonics Product Division is seeking an experienced Photonic System Simulation engineer to develop innovative and advanced system modeling expertise that brings performance differentiation in next generation optical products.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Architect and design new techniques in both system-level and component-level 
- Develop and perform end-to-end system level simulations with high-speed silicon photonic components. 
- Leverage the system simulations and identify system-level tradeoffs and component performance optimization opportunities that can lead to lower product power, cost, or improved yield. 
- Define system optical link budgets incorporating the impairment penalty in optical and electrical SI. 
- Work with the validation team to verify the optical link budget and RF/IC budget through experiments.
- Work with component design teams and cross functional teams to implement system level recommendations into device designs.
- Experience to work across the BU to align various functional teams to the engineering requirements document.

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Education Requirement:

- Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a similar discipline with focus on Silicon Photonics, optical component, module, and transmission system

Minimum Qualification
- 3+ years of experience in system link modeling methodology and tools for high speed (50GBaud to 100GBaud) optical communication products
- 2+ years of experience in architect, design and define new systems and components for high speed silicon photonics commercial optical communication products.
- 1+ years of experience modeling Si and III-V photonic devices, subsystems and systems in high speed communication systems.
- 1+ years of experience with modeling both direct detect higher order modulation format systems, advanced modulation formats, noncoherent and coherent optical systems (ie, modulators, detectors, lasers).
- 1+ years of experience with co-simulating high speed electronics with optical components, DSP modeling, coding/decoding techniques, OSNR/BER/FEC error correction, CMOS IC's (driver, TIA's), and advanced modulation formats.
- 1+ years of experience with optical/electrical simulation platforms Simulink, Matlab, ADS, Lumerical, HFSS, VPI, etc
- 1+ years of experience in link/system design, experimental/theoretical performance analysis, optical component constrains induced transmission impairments (CD, GDR, nonlinear, PDL, PMD)

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in designing high speed optoelectronic and electronic components
- Experience in component, carrier, RF package, driver-modulator optimization, high-speed interconnect digital and analog system
- Exposure in optical system-, subsystem-, and component-level characterization.
- Exposure to optical packaging concepts 2D, 2.5D, 3D and optical test.
