Job Description
Intel's Supply Chain Research and Development (R&D) Engineers are responsible for:
  • Developing, enabling materials/equipment supply chain solutions to support novel patterning development needs for leading edge technologies for Internal Research and Development.
  • Complex materials and equipment supply chain development and integration of these actions to enable Intel's long term patterning research roadmap.
  • Extensive interaction and coordination with research, development and manufacturing and commercial engagement groups and external niche suppliers as well as traditional suppliers.
  • Exploring and benchmarking emerging novel patterning technology and the associated enablers in the industry and in the research space.

The selected candidate will:

  • Contribute to future technology definition and requirements and define the technical requirements for supplier selection.
  • Work together with internal stakeholders to define the equipment configuration/performance requirements/raw materials and overall materials manufacturing process flow to meet performance, quality, reliability, cost, yield and manufacturability requirements.
  • Develop plans and strategies to validate critical process window at supplier, and drive supplier process window validation activities on critical process modules throughout stages of development.
  • Drive supplier improvements on quality, reliability and cost, develops solutions to problems utilizing formal technical expertise, statistical knowledge and problem-solving tools
  • Develop strategies to resolve wide range of difficult and complex problems.
  • Establish master Gantt, perform regular review on the project progress and successfully manage projects from concept to closure.
  • Explore and benchmark emerging patterning technology in the research/consortium space and target to translate them into internal opportunities for evaluation.

The ideal candidate should exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Demonstrated analytical/problem solving, stakeholder management, and change management with results orientation skills .
  • Ability to drive multiple projects with aggressive timeline, and supplier engagement with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to drive supply chain players to deliver to Intel requirements, ability to work across various divisions/groups to ensure goal alignment.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and listening skills and demonstrated the ability to interact with and influence senior and/or supplier management
  • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment and being adaptable to changes.


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Position not eligible for Intel immigration sponsorship.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must possess at least one of the 3 following degrees + the years of experience determined for each degree in the areas of expertise specified below: 

1- Bachelor's degree in engineering or science discipline with 9+ years of work experience.

2- Master's degree in engineering or science discipline with 7+ years of work experience.

3- Ph.D. in engineering or science discipline with 5+ years of work experience.

Expertise areas:

  • Fab and the semiconductor industry
  • Manufacturers and Materials/equipment supply chains.
  • Program/project management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Formal knowledge/ educational background in Lithography Process/Etch/Integration/Polymer chemistry is desirable
  • A strong business understanding, particularly related to semi equipment and materials industry, is a plus
  • Significant technical expertise in semiconductor cutting edge process technology and patterning challenges, particularly as it applies to lithography process, equipment and materials challenges.
  • Ability to play an active role in adjacent areas of litho -etch-design optimizations.
