Job Description

The Sort Tooling Operations Supply Chain Engineer (SCE) position is a hybrid SCE and Commodity Manager (CM) role supporting Sort capital equipment related to Intel Modular product strategy. This position is accountable for technical program management of Intel's tool suppliers and accountable for supply line health contracts quality and delivery.

 As the Supply Chain R&D Engineer, you will be responsible for but not limited to: 

  • Own and drives the technical working group that defines the priorities for the suppliers.
  • Collaborate with Technology Development TD engineers to create and maintain relevant specifications and mutual expectation documents to minimize variability and subjectivity to align with operational and supplier capability requirements.
  • Work with suppliers to define requirements and holds suppliers accountable for their manufacturing process flow to meet quality reliability, cost yield, and manufacturability requirements.
  • Drive continuous process and quality improvements.
  • Manage new tool purchases as needed to support next-generation products along with driving the lower cost of ownership for Intel with the supplier.
  • Ownership in working with internal stakeholders suppliers and technical engineers in developing short and long-term strategies.
  • Partners with Finance to develop ROI models review should cost models and negotiate with the supplier to ensure Intel is getting a competitive deal.
  • Own writing and revising equipment-specific contracts.
  • Work with internal owners to better understand the technical roadmap and future capacity needs which may impact equipment forecast and purchases.
  • Owner in developing alternatives if purchasing new equipment is not a viable option.
  • Establish and manage the business process with the supplier on equipment forecast and deliveries.
  • Point of Contact for the supplier to approach and work on specific equipment cost reduction, projects, and initiatives short and long-term strategies.
  • Partner with other members of the Intel account team to develop and align on the strategy for supplier management to drive the supplier to provide world-class services.
  • Manage suppliers in different geographies and early morning or late night meetings are often required.
  • Finding a win-win solution using data and analytical skills.
  • Interface with a cross-functional group at multiple levels

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must possess at least one of the following degrees plus the years of experience determined for each degree in the areas specified below  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering Science or related field of study with 3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Master's Degree in Business, Engineering Science or related field of study with 2+ years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration degree (MBA).
  • Commodity Management and Engineering experience.
  • Cleanroom experience.
  • Program management experience and expertise in problem-solving facing a difficult environment, or dealing with difficult customers and/or suppliers.
  • Familiarity with P/C Specs participation in supplier working groups and disposition of supplier change control.
  • Experience with writing contracts supplier negotiations and selections familiarity with Intel's purchasing business policies and working knowledge of Ariba system and/or experience with developing ROIs and should cost modeling with finance.
