Substrate equipment sourcing (SES) organization is part of the assembly test supply chain group who contracts and sources tens of billions of dollars on behalf of Intel Corporation. The scope of the organization covers a wide range of capital equipment sourcing, manufacturing and ecosystem development in support of manufacturing both direct, indirect material including subcontract manufactured components. The organization's goal is to deliver Intel's future through the world's best, predictable, uninterrupted, cost effective, and agile supply chain. The Substrate Equipment Sourcing (SES) group is commissioned to deliver differentiated (innovative, reliable, affordable, uninterrupted and capable) equipment supply chain, engineering, performance and services for Intel enabling current and future generation of advanced packaging substrates.

Supply Chain Engineering Director leads a team of content experts and supply chain development engineers owning key areas of substrate manufacturing equipment including; advanced lithography, laser drilling, advanced panel plating, lamination, backend and metrology/testing equipment. The successful candidate is hired at the director level as a staff manager reporting to the vice president of substrate equipment sourcing.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Recruit, develop, lead and manage a team of content experts and equipment supply chain engineers responsible for conceptualizing, developing and ramping next generation substrate equipment platforms and solutions in the above-mentioned areas.
  • Work closely with key partners, stakeholders and the technology development organizations to understand technology roadmap requirements and collaborate closely with principal engineering team and content experts in defining, driving and managing equipment development roadmap across a global array of equipment manufacturers. Align and execute equipment development roadmap to enable intel next generation substrate manufacturing technologies.
  • Manage and drive external ecosystem partners, equipment suppliers, equipment sub. suppliers, chemistry and materials providers to enable a comprehensive equipment platforms capable of successfully ramping to meet process certification targets in high volume manufacturing.
  • Partner effectively with peers and across assembly test supply chain organization to drive successful equipment selection methodology and process.
  • Partner with technology development, factory operation and output management teams to define, drive and deliver clear affordability and performance metrics.

A successful candidate should also exhibit the following behavioral traits:

  • Demonstrated technical and engineering depth, breadth, and leadership for driving, inventing, and developing scalable and capable equipment platforms and solutions.
  • Proven expertise in bringing industry-leading equipment technologies from concept to HVM deployment in highly complex advanced technology environment,
  • Expert in using advanced structural problem solving and model-based root cause analysis methodologies
  • Competency and proficiency with equipment development methodologies and experience providing leadership and driving internal stakeholders and equipment suppliers
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills aligned with intel culture and vision to produce technologies that changes the lives of every human on earth.
  • Demonstrated business acumen combined with engineering and supply chain expertise in the semiconductor capital equipment and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Deep knowledge of factory operations and high-volume manufacturing ramp readiness with keen
  • Demonstrated financial and complex project management expertise


You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position.
Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum qualifications and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess a bachelor's degree (with 15-20 years of experience) or master's degree (with10-15 years of experience) in science or engineering in one or more of the following disciplines (Materials/Chemical/Electrical/Industrial and /or Mechanical engineering or equivalent educational qualifications in Physics, Chemistry or analytical sciences).
  • MBA or equivalent business management qualifications is highly desirable.
  • Supply chain management certifications/training
  • 15+years of people management experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 15+years of semiconductor capital equipment experience
  • 15+years of people management experience for capital equipment suppliers.
  • This position will require proven leadership, innovation, influencing, and creativity.
  • Deep supply chain acumen, broad supply chain network, and ability to think strategically and analytically are fundamental to the success of this position.
  • Proven expertise in advanced packaging/assembly/high density interconnect manufacturing and supply chain.
