SCE9A/$9,137 - $11,421 PER MONTH *

1. Develop cost effective, state-of-the art substation designs, electrical generating facilities and water processing and pumping facilities. Assist with the future plans for substations and utility electrical facilities. *

2. Negotiate cost beneficial labor and equipment contracts by writing the contract, discussing and resolving the final terms. *

3. Ensure minimal system outages by reviewing existing systems, selecting new relays and recommending operating setting changes. Provide technical direction for design, construction, operations, and maintenance relating to transmission and substation issues. Determine root causes of electrical system disturbances and recommend system improvements. *

4. Prepare complex engineering studies and reports; prepare a variety of technical reports, documents, and correspondence; prepare technical specifications; oversee and participate in the preparation and revision of design and construction standards. *

5. Review and submit capital budget by listing needed capital improvements and all related material and labor costs, along with a time schedule for development/repair. *

6. Review NERC standards; develop and support policies and procedures that meet the requirements of the standards. Perform duties and responsibilities of Subject Matter Expert (SME) during audits for assigned areas. Prepare responses to Compliance Questionnaires and Reliability Standard Audit Worksheets as per NERC standards. *

7. Contribute to the reliable production of electricity and water by providing technical operation and maintenance support to plant personnel. *

8. Assist in implementing BPU policies, assist in completing reports and studies, and complete other assigned duties with regard to Federal, State, and Southwest Power Pool Transmission System Regulatory matters. *

9. Requirements

MINIMAL EDUCATIONAL/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: This position requires the incumbent to have acquired a B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering through an ABET accredited college or university. The position holder should have five (5) years of demonstrated work experience in substation and generating facilities design and construction, along with an understanding of electrical transmission and distribution systems. A Professional Engineering License is preferred.
