We have an opening for an Engineering Project Manager for the Superblock (SBK) Projects Engineering Group to plan, manage, and execute complex facility system and equipment projects in SBK nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. You will lead the strategic planning, design, construction, and commissioning of SBK facility projects which include vital safety systems (VSSs) and equipment replacements and occasional improvements, resolution of long-term system/equipment deficiencies, and the resolution of technical obsolescence issues. This position is in the Nuclear Operations Directorate (Operations and Business Principal Directorate), matrixed to the Nuclear Materials Technology Program (NMTP) in the Weapons and Complex Integration Principal Directorate, and reports to the SBK Engineering and Maintenance Manager.This position will be filled at the TSL.4 level.Essential Duties- Provide highly advanced technical leadership, direction and guidance to a group of approximately 6 8 technical and coordination staff for projects with budgets that can exceed $10M. These projects may involve complex and often conflicting issues with competing deadlines that require detailed analysis and evaluation to achieve an optimum solution.- Develop functional and performance requirements, designs, project scope, costs, group schedules, and risk mitigation plans in order to execute projects focused on facility systems and equipment; effectively collaborate with System Engineers, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), project schedulers, Project Management Office (PMO) and Facilities and Infrastructure (F&I) staff and engineers, SBK Facility management, program personnel, stakeholders, external architectural and engineering (A/E) firms, and subcontractors.- Analyze highly complex engineering problems and provide creative and effective solutions.
- Review, compose, and develop (or coordinate the development of) technical specifications and drawings.
- Lead, Prepare, commission, or lead formal and informal design reviews.
- Direct a multidisciplinary project team toward the successful completion of project and organizational goals within established budgets and schedules and serve as primary technical resource .- Manage the SBK Projects Engineering Group in strategic workforce planning, recruitment, retention, selection, training, work assignment, career development, performance management, and where necessary disciplinary actions.- Develop, review, present, and implement a budget for the SBK Projects Engineering Group that support multimillion-dollar SBK facility projects.- Perform other duties as assigned.Qualifications - Bachelors degree in Engineering, Project Management, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and significant related experience.- Extensive experience working in a nuclear facility or in nuclear-related operations or other highly regulated facilities or environments.- Highly advanced knowledge of facility-related systems and equipment design, fabrication, and installation, including those for mechanical, electrical, ventilation, cryogenic, and control room systems.- Significant experience devising solutions for complex technical requirements.- Significant experience effectively managing projects that include organizing and conducting rigorous design and project reviews as well as managing schedules and budgets of multiple projects concurrently and reprioritizing and changing programmatic direction depending on emergent needs and requests.- Significant experience overseeing a multidisciplinary team and ensuring the completion of multiple projects within budget and on schedule.- Significant experience in personnel recruitment, retention, selection, training, development, and performance management.- Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively engage various personnel, collaborate successfully in a multidisciplinary team environment, and present technical information to and provide advice to Facility management, stakeholders, resource/financial management, and Department of Energy (DOE) and other external regulatory agencies management and staff.Desired Qualifications
- Experience with the LLNL or NMTP work control process and documents.

Pre-Employment Drug Test: External applicant(s) selected for this position will be required to pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test. This includes testing for use of marijuana as Federal Law applies to us as a Federal Contractor.

Security Clearance: This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance.

If you are selected, wewill initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if youmeet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. In addition, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship. If you hold multiple citizenships (U.S. and another country), you may be required to renounce your non-U.S. citizenship before a DOE L or Q clearance will be processed/granted.

Note: This is a Career Indefinite position. Lab employees and external candidates may be considered for this position.
