Job Description

As a Substrate Quality and Reliability Engineer you will be responsible but not limited to the following tasks:

  • Develops, applies, and maintains quality and reliability standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished product.
  • Evaluate the materials, process and techniques used in production to meet the requirement of products and production equipment.
  • Specifies inspection and testing mechanism, conduct quality assessment (up to and including audits) and perform statistical analysis to determine the responsibility for products and systems that do not meet required specifications.
  • Delivers standardization in product qualification, manufacturing quality systems and methods. Provide feedback to BU, TD and/or partner engineering group on design or method and statistical process control procedures including manufacturing systems in HVM.
  • Determines reliability requirements and automated screening methodologies of components and systems to achieve company, customer and any governmental agency reliability objectives.
  • Develops new acceleration techniques, analytical tools and quality screens to assure the early identification of potential problems with new products, packaging, processes, and product quality/reliability.
  • Responds to customer requests or events as they occur. Makes recommendations for changes in design or formulation to improve system and or process product reliability.

Additional Group Information

The successful applicant will be responsible for providing Substrate material related Quality and Reliability support through the product life cycle PLC in the Global Supply Chain GSC Quality and Reliability Q and R organization with heavy focus on supporting the development activities.

Q and R Engineer is chartered to drive the Substrate material Quality and Reliability activities including Supplier Selection risk assessment, Supplier Qualification, and Continuous Improvement of certification methods and quality systems.

At any phase of PLC, various technical challenges will need to be resolved with effective Q and R risk assessments, diligent root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.

Good team work and follow through of the process is needed. The candidate will work closely with ATTD and GSC technical teams. They will provide Substrates reliability expertise, and play a critical role in substrate certifications and excursion management especially around risk assessment on raw substrates and finish goods.


Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Experience would be obtained through a combination of prior education level classes, and current level school classes, projects, research and relevant previous job and/or internship experience.

This is an entry-level position and will be compensated accordingly.

Minimum Qualifications:

The candidate must possess at least one of the following degree(s) plus the years of experience determined for each of the areas specified below.

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree in a related engineering or physical sciences discipline such as Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics. and 5+ years of experience in physical/ mechanical/ dimensional properties, behaviors, and characteristics of materials used in the assembly manufacturing processes, namely Substrates -OR-
     
  • a Master's degree in a related engineering or physical sciences discipline such as Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics.  and 3+ years of experience -OR-
     
  • a PhD in a related engineering or physical sciences discipline such as Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Applied Physics. and 1+ year of experience:

Preferred qualifications:

  • The candidate should have QR Reliability skills, and basic statistical concepts.
  • The candidate must be Willing  to work independently in a highly matrixed structure, and have excellent listening, written and verbal communications skills.
  • The candidate must be Willing to successfully influence stakeholders in the materials eco system. Job location is Chandler AZ
