Job Description

In order to be eligible for this position you must currently hold an active security clearance or have held an active security clearance within the past 2 years.

This position will serve as a Student Research Assistant in the Counter Proliferation Technology Program Office (CPTPO) within the Advanced Concepts Laboratory (ACL). CPTPO focuses on the ideation, development, implementation, testing, and analysis of various technical challenges ranging from advanced warfighting concepts to the challenges posed by the existential threats of weapons of mass destruction (chemical, biological, nuclear and radiological weapons) as well as other asymmetric threats.

The Student Research Assistant could be involved at various levels of the research and design process based upon their motivation, experience, and capabilities; which include, but are not limited to:
• Ideation and development of cutting-edge warfighting capabilities and/or countermeasures
• Mechanical design as warranted by the task/mission
• Experimental design and optimization
• The gathering and processing of experimental data
• Document and present individual and/or group research results
• Radiation testing support
• Other mission supporting tasks as required

Required Minimum Qualifications

Student Assistant/Research Assistant

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or Physics related discipline
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university during working semesters
  • 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Must currently hold an active security clearance or have held an active security clearance within the past 2 years

Preferred Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and results oriented
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to a non-technical audience
  • Experience with at least one programming or scripting language
  • Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite

10–20 hours per week

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
