Job Description

Georgia Tech Research Institute's (GTRI) Support Services Department (SSD) is currently seeking a student assistant to begin working part-time in the fall 2019 semester. The student will work under the guidance of a GTRI project manager to perform the following activities which will provide a solid foundation for the student in many construction related areas such as scheduling, cost estimation, and construction design and implementation. Student assistants will:

  • Work with the SSD team to create project packages for GTRI construction projects
  • Work with the SSD team to review and document progress for GTRI construction projects
  • Collaborate with contractors and subcontractors throughout the project process
  • Take detailed meeting minutes for construction meetings and site walkthroughs
  • Maintain administrative and technical documents for construction projects

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field at a University System of Georgia institution 
  • Must be registered for at least 6 credit hours with your university
  • Must have a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit, Microsoft Office, and Acrobat Reader
  • Excellent written and oral communication as well as strong organizational skills
  • Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous exposure to construction and project management
  • Advanced to proficient knowledge of Excel
  • Sophomore in academic standing

Hours per Week

20 hours per week during business hours. Flexible to class schedules.
