Areté Associates, an employee-owned company, is a growing research and development firm recognized for contributing to national security objectives by supplying innovative solutions to challenging technical problems faced by the United States. We have an immediate opening for a Test Engineer reporting to the Senior Program Manager  This is a exempt non-supervisory full-time position. The position can reside in any of our following locations - Destin, FL  /  Longmont, CO   /  Tucson, AZ.

SUMMARY:

Designs, develops, and implements testing methods and equipment. Plans and arranges the labor, schedules, and equipment required for testing and evaluating standard and special devices. Provides test area with parameters for sample testing and specifies tests to be performed. Compiles data and defines changes required in testing equipment, testing procedures, manufacturing processes, or new testing requirements. Responsible for testing all customer samples and for special tests that cannot be performed in the test area.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for planning, implementation, coordination and execution of functional, performance, and qualification test execution at the component, subsystem, and system level against documented requirements.

  • Test events will occur in laboratory, outdoors, at sea, and in flight environments.The candidate should have experience in writing test plans and procedures to verify system functional and performance requirements and validate operational Measures of Effectiveness (MOE) and Measures of Performance (MOP) metrics.

  • Create and update test procedures and schedules for contractor and developmental testing phases that support fielding of systems.

  • Executing qualification tests on hardware to include investigating hardware and software deficiencies, troubleshooting anomalies, and analyzing complex imagery.

  • Provide test analyses, test documentation (including test summaries, detailed flight and testing logs for post mission analysis), and technical support by creating, collecting, and organizing daily test documentation for use with data analysis, quick looks, and final test reports upon test completion.

     

REQUIRED and PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Greater than 5 years’ (2 years with MS) experience in systems engineering and/or test engineering disciplines.  A Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Systems Engineering is preferred

  • Background in subsystem/system integration and test plan/procedure development and execution, system flight test plan/procedure development and execution, flight checklists, and troubleshooting guides as a Mission Payload Operator and/or Mission Payload Specialist. 

  • Must be familiar with requirements verification and validation should be able to perform decomposition, traceability, and requirements impacts through requirements analysis and requirements management practices and techniques in accordance with MIL-STD-961. 

  • Knowledge of MIL-STD-461, MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-882 and MIL-STD-483 also.  Candidate must have experience and proficiency in the use of the IBM Rational DOORS tool.

  • Communicate clearly both written and verbally.  Prepare, participate, and present in technical briefings in accordance with IEEE 15288.2, such as SRR, PDR and CDR to internal and external customers, and is expected to write/support technical and cost proposal(s).
