Raytheon Missiles & Defense Louisville Facility (RLF) specializes in Manufacturing, Remanufacturing and Depot capabilities for Large Systems. The facility is a multi-product facility that specializes in teardown, refurbishment, assembly (both remanufactured and new), test and final preparation of weapon systems and subsystems including circuit card repair and test.

Job Summary:

The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is responsible for all manufacturing related activities within a production or depot manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to a Value Stream Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of up to 40 touch labor employees within one shift. The VSL will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and collaborate with functional support employees to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the VSL will have accountability for the quality of production, development and depot products, while being delivered on time at or below cost targets.

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing
to work extended hours (when required) in a fast paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in manufacturing leadership role.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Site Leadership interface and interactions
  • Schedule, Quality and Cost performance management of responsible work areas
  • Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
  • Communication of customer and site requirements to bargaining unit workforce
  • Interface with support employees including planning, engineering, quality and other Value Stream Leaders across shifts
  • Manage and lead up to 40 touch personnel
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
  • Prioritizes project issues and assists in the resolutions process to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements
  • Ensure compliance to all pertinent operating procedures, organizational directives and work instructions

** An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum of 3 years experience**

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelors Degree preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing or additional 2 years of personnel leadership experience may be substituted for each 1 year of college
  • Minimum 5 years related experience with minimum 2 years experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Production Control or related area
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and implementation
  • Material Resource Planning experience within an Enterprise Resource Planning system
  • Experience with preparing and maintaining compliance for audits
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U. S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
  • Understanding of an Operation Environment (TAKT, Line Balancing, Value Stream Mapping)
  • Knowledge of Bargaining Unit Agreement & Compliance
  • Experience working within SAP
  • Strong knowledge of Production Control concepts including WIP management and TAKT
  • Understanding of Estimate At Completion (EAC) process and Hours Per Unit (HPU)
  • Ability to conduct employee evaluations and performance discussions
  • Ability to analyze data and develop cost reduction and error proofing projects
  • Ability to coordinate resources to eliminate production capacity issues
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate across the entire organization
