The Mechanical Products Team (MPT) is responsible for mechanical design, analysis and test of all sensor and effector products across the RMD portfolio. Our vision is to be the premier team for mechanical design and development through world-class people, collaboration, and innovation.
The MPT is comprised of Hardware Configuration Management and Integrated Design Check (CM/IDC), Software Configuration Management (SWCM), and Data Management, Engineering Support and Execution (DEX).
The Software Configuration Management (SWCM) department follows the basic principles of Configuration Management. SWCM establishes and maintains integrity for all digital products throughout the entire life cycle. The Software Configuration Management Department provides innovative solutions through automation, continuous improvement and a skilled workforce providing support for all computing products including embedded software, firmware/configurable logic, test equipment, simulation, Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) and tools (Digital Products).
The Software Configuration Management Engineer(SCME) plans, coordinates, and executes digital Configuration Management (CM) activities, including:
Design, plan, enforce and coordinate CM processes and procedures
Configuration Planning & Identification
Change Management & Version Control
Status Accounting & Configuration Audits
Product Release
Manage digital product development libraries
Document and maintain guidelines and standards for dependency management, build and versioning
SWCM Tool administration / Manage all access to the source code repository (i.e. Microsoft Azure DevOps Server (ADS) / Git)
Facilitate the Digital Change Review Board (DCRB)
Maintain familiarity with program schedule, identifying risks and aligning work to promote reuse and efficiency
The successful applicant will work as a self-starter, team player, and excellent communicator. He or she will interact effectively with program personnel, and will possess a working knowledge of the digital development life-cycle and SEI CMMI / industry standards.
U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs a U.S. Security Clearance as of day 1 of employment
Required Skills, Education, and Experience:
US Citizenship
Active DoD clearance
Bachelors Degree in engineering disciplines, natural or physical sciences, mathematics, physics, computer science, management information systems, or related technical degrees
A minimum of four (4) years professional engineering experience
Experience with version control and change management tool(s)
SWCM, Information Technology (IT), and/or development experience
Solid proficiency in Windows and Unix/Linux Operating Systems
Desired Skills, Education, and Experience:
Masters Degree in engineering disciplines, natural or physical sciences, mathematics, physics, computer science, management information systems, or related technical degrees
An existing DoD secret clearance, or the ability to obtain a DoD secret clearance
Six (6) years professional engineering experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Capable of solving complex problems, sharing knowledge and documenting work
Experience with SWCM tools such as IBM Rational Synergy, Rational Change, Microsoft Azure DevOps Server (ADS) (Formerly Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) / Git,
Strong knowledge and proven experience with Continuous Improvement, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) concepts
Knowledge of Continuous Improvement, Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment concepts
Strong customer service skills; friendly, approachable, motivated, with a strong work ethic
Database / SWCM tool administration experience
Strong practical experience with scripting programming languages (i.e. Perl, Kshell, batch, Python, Ruby, Jenkins, Chef)
Proven experience with configuration management concepts and implementation
Experience with software industry best practices such as Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI)
