Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, Maintainable, and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:
Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) is responsible for all aspects of RAM activity within the Raytheon Missiles & Defense business unit.

As a Sr. RAM Engineer, youll ensure the performance compliance of both customer and internal requirements.

In this highly visible role, youll develop innovative reliability growth solutions and strategies which will be implemented across the Naval Power portfolio of programs to ensure highly reliable and sustainable systems.

In support of this effort, youll work directly with the program Chief Engineers to ensure all elements of reliability are taken into consideration for all phases of the product lifecycle. In addition, youll mentor reliability engineers within the department and youll lead technical cost proposals.

Responsibilities to anticipate:
  • Developing innovative technical solutions to unusually complex reliability problems that require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity with little to no supervision
  • Assess RAM performance: MTBF, MTBCF, Ao
  • Define/allocate RAM requirements
  • Perform Reliability & Maintainability Predictions
  • Perform Failure Modes Effects Criticality Analysis (FMECA)
  • Perform Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) Support Reliability Test Planning and Execution: Accelerated, Growth, Demonstration
  • Ensure performance compliance to requirements
This role is posted as part-time telecommute, with the stipulation that the incumbent understands that any commuting costs to and from the Portsmouth, RI site location will be the responsibility of the incumbent.

An advanced degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience may be considered for this role.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Education: BS in a STEM discipline or BA in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Computer Science.
Employment Experience:
  • 10+ years of engineering experience
  • Experience with reliability& maintainability analyses
  • Experience gathering, analyzing and/or presenting data
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Value:
  • Experience with Earned Value Management System (EVMS)
  • Experience with advanced Reliability Engineering Concepts.
  • Experience with Failure Reporting, Analysis, and Corrective Action System (FRACS)
  • Experience interfacing with suppliers to resolve reliability issues
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present to diverse audiences
  • Experience leading large teams and working in a cross functional team environment
  • Experience using Windchill Quality Solutions suite of tools.
  • Professional certification in the area of Reliability, Availability and Maintainability
  • Experience with technical document and report generation
  • Experience with proposal development including generating Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and cost/technical volumes
  • Experience with mentoring RMA engineers
  • Active Secret Clearance
