Job Description: NOTE: This is a multi-level position that can be a salary grade Sr. Quality Assurance Engineer II or Principal Quality Assurance Engineer based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibilities required for the position. The Program Quality Engineer will provide quality engineering support and expertise to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements in support of multiple development programs. The candidate must have firsthand knowledge on the use of quality initiatives, strategies, and tools in support of the administration of the RMD Quality Management System, and be able to apply engineering and critical thinking skills to ensure compliance and customer satisfaction effectively during various phases of program development.
The Program Quality Engineer will use analytical tools and methods to support design reviews and audits to ensure that quality is engineered into the product; and develop product acceptance techniques and plans; improve product design; solve fabrication problems; complete specialized quality functions including data preparation, analyses and reporting; support process improvements; complete special investigations and audits; take preventative and corrective actions. This position requires full-time, on-site program support and eligibility to obtain a security clearance.
Required Skills:
Six (6) years of Quality, Supplier, and/or Manufacturing Engineering experience
Demonstrated competency in a relevant technical discipline (aerospace, manufacturing, defense, etc.)
Understanding of key quality methods and tools and experience leading teams in failure analysis; root cause analysis; corrective and preventive actions; and the implementation of robust process controls
Ability to understand drawings, work instructions, Bill of Materials, consumable materials control, process disciplines and tool control
Experience writing and presenting complex presentations (Reviews, corrective action boards, COPQ reduction, etc.) and complex data to peers, leadership, suppliers, and customers
Effective verbal and written communication and networking skills to work with upper management and customers
Effective interpersonal skills and ability to work well with customers, suppliers, and in a team environment
Experience and knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100
Educational Requirements:
Bachelors Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics
Desired Skills:
Eight (8) years of Engineering experience within Quality, Supplier, and/or Manufacturing
Experience in development/usage of Quality metrics and the identification/institution of perceptive verifications
Hands on use of Statistical Process Controls for process monitoring, qualification and/or design feedback
Manufacturing process knowledge (assembly, inspection, test)
Demonstrated ability to lead and work across cross functional process improvement teams
Experience working with external suppliers and inspection techniques
General knowledge of industry technical standards (such as ANSI, CMMI, ASTM, etc.
