Job Description

Intel's Components Research (CR) group is the research arm of the Intel TD organization and is at the forefront of advanced silicon process and packaging technologies, continuing to invent and fabricate devices that push the boundaries of power, area and performance for Moores Law continuation and product differentiation. With a full roadmap of future technologies to enable Intels leadership products, CR needs technical leaders to help innovate and lead the organization to success. CR is looking for a Sr. Principal Engineer to lead their Etch & Cleans group, a talented and diverse team of highly motivated engineers that focuses on leading edge technologies and novel process techniques to enable the new materials and integration challenges being investigated within CR.  This person will report directly to the GM of Components Research.


Sr. Principal Engineers in CR play a critical role in identifying and driving disruptive innovation at a regular cadence which is key to process technology leadership and unlocking the potential of Intel's IDM 2.0 strategy. In this position, the Sr. Principal Engineer for Etch & Cleans is expected to lead teams of highly motivated engineers in technical work groups in solving complex problems and will have a team of etch & cleans engineers directly reporting to him/her. Intel looks for its technical leaders to leverage their talents and magnify their impact through excellent collaboration with other technical teams inside and outside of CR and Intel.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Safety - Create and consistently support safety improvement initiatives in the fab, lab and office areas.
  • Leadership motivating and coaching a team of (10+) creative engineers who will directly report to you.  Leading working groups to set direction towards solving complex technical problems and providing solutions across multiple technology programs.
  • Strategic Planning and Innovation - Developing roadmaps for successful implementation of innovative etch & cleans processes and technologies to enable industry-leading performance. Driving selection and development of leading-edge materials and equipment with external vendors, in collaboration with internal partners, to increase Intels future process technology options. 
  • Culture - Supporting the development of a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive cultural environment where employees can bring their whole selves to contribute and grow to their maximum potentials.  Demonstrating organizational and emotional intelligence to understand how work is completed and how to build teams to reach new heights in a fast-moving environment.
  • Research Leadership In addition to internal research and development, working with external industry consortia, suppliers and universities to drive research for Intels internal roadmap is a key portion of this role.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience leading and setting priorities for engineering teams.
  • A strong record of etch and cleans innovations.
  • Experience working in roles that require both daily tactical consistency as well as long term strategy definition and roadmap execution.


Qualifications

  • PhD in Physics, Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Chemistry, or a closely related field.
  • 10+ years semiconductor manufacturing process development experience optimizing process parameters and tools.
