The Materials Engineering Department part of the Mechanical Products Team, is looking for talented Materials Engineers to contribute to our expanding core competencies. Within the Department, Materials Engineers work through all stages of the product life offering support from design to production to refurbishment. The position would include offering inputs on design requirements, supplier support, production support and failure analysis of fielded equipment. This position will require interaction with senior personnel on significant technical matters often requiring coordination between organizations and / or suppliers with some travel required. A background in adhesives, rubbers, potting materials or plastics is desired with a focus on materials and process engineering.
This position can be Salary Grade G08 (Senior Multi-disciplined Engineer I) or Salary Grade G09 (Senior Multi-disciplined Engineer II) based upon the applicants qualifications as they relate to the skills, leadership, experience and responsibility requirements of the position.
Required Experience, Skills and Education:
For, Sr. Multi-Disciplined Engineer I - Four (4) years of experience in materials and/or process engineering.
For, Sr. Multi-Disciplined Engineer II- Six (6) years of experience in materials or processing engineering.
Experience with any of the following:
Adhesives, Rubbers, Potting Materials or Plastics
Chemistry and physics of material properties
Application and processing of materials for implementation into manufacturing
Testing and evaluation of materials systems
Military and other Standards for corrosion protection and prevention
Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Materials Science, Plastics, Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineering or Applied Physics or other related science or engineering field
U.S. Citizenship is required
Desired Experience, Skills and Education:
12 years of directly related experience in Materials design, development, and test, with at least 10 years of experience in adhesives, rubbers, potting materials or plastics
Working knowledge of military and commercial materials and process specifications.
Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW)
Demonstrated success as a team leader
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Work, Excel, Power Point & Project)
Project Management as applied to team interaction and deliverables
Be willing to travel to suppliers and government facilities
Currently have or be able to obtain a DoD issued Secret security clearance
Knowledge of Design of Experiments, Six Sigma and statistical techniques
Advanced degree in aforementioned disciplines. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard
