The Raytheon Missile and Defenses (RMD) Mechanical Product Team (MPT) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo, and combat system equipment. The Mechanical Product Team uses state-of the-art tools, processes, technology, and RMD's Six Sigma principles. MPTs capabilities encompass a broad range of technical disciplines which include engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials, processes, analysis, test, and documentation.

The Air Defense Ground Equipment Department leads mechanical design, development, and integration of platform systems. This includes shelter systems, hardware integration, cable & interconnections, as well as facility development, and site integration. The department is comprised of individuals with technical expertise and experience in hardware design, integration, and production support.

Job Summary:

The Re-Empower Program helps support talented and committed professionals as they rebuild their capabilities, enhance leadership skills, and continue their professional journey. Over the course of the 14-week program, experienced professionals will gain paid, on-the-job experience, have an opportunity to participate in sessions with leadership, develop personalized plans for success and receive coaching to guide their return to work experience. Upon completion of the program, based on performance and contributions participants will be eligible for a career at Raytheon Technologies.

The next cohort of the Re-Empower Program will run from September 13 December 17, 2021.

Minimum Program Qualifications
To qualify for the Raytheon Technologies Re-Empower Program, candidates should:
Be on a career break of one or more year at time of application
Have prior experience in functional area of interest
Have interest in returning in either a full-time or part-time position

This Mechanical Engineering position performs in alignment to expectations in the design development and production support areas associated with mechanical designs, validation principals, qualification processes, procurement, and production processes across a designs life cycle.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, and major end items for defense system equipment in accordance with system requirements
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical issues.
  • Working within a team environment to develop innovative mechanical subsystems
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews and conduct trade studies to make sound technical choices
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
  • Mentor and guide less experienced engineer

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • BS in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical eld
  • Five (5)+ years of experience in a Mechanical Engineering role with minimum one (1) year designing and developing mechanical equipment, preferably for use in Military environments. Previous experience including concept denition through detailed design and transition to production and production support
  • Broad background in mechanical design, development, material selection, or manufacturing processes
  • Experience with CAD design tools or associated product data management tools
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance within 1 year of start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications We Value:
  • Advanced degree in mechanical engineering, or hardware systems design
  • Experience in design, fabrication, and integration of electronic assemblies, shelter assemblies, power distribution equipment packaging, and rack systems
  • Working knowledge of Military and Commercial Specications
  • Knowledge in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5M-1994
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced, team environment
  • Oversee small to mid-sized mechanical engineering teams as a technical execution guide through all phases of development from proposal generation, program start up, requirements allocation, preliminary and detailed development, through production.
Mentors other employees. Diverse and comprehensive academic knowledge and analytical skills capabilities. Able to solve difficult engineering / analytical issues.
Experience with Creo Parametric design and documentation
Experience and Windchill 10.0 PDMLink or an equivalent configuration management system
Desire and ability to work in a fast-paced production environment
Previous experience includes adaptability and willingness to work varying assignments
Experience in supporting proposals

This position is located in Tewksbury, MA.
Position can be remote during the COVID pandemic, and will report onsite at a future, undetermined date.
