The Senior Software License Management (SLM) Specialist position within the RMD Digital Technology (DT) organization is an exciting opportunity to join our growing Engineering Solutions (ES) organization which has a primary focus on management of engineering and scientific software for the business. The primary responsibility for this position is SLM alignment and execution of the required renewals and purchases of licensed tools across our engineering functions. Increased complexity in license models and rapid changes in the software industry are requiring continuous improvement of SLM processes and procedures. This position currently serves as the central point of contact to manage and optimize the RMD Engineering SLM lifecycle for our Systems, Software, Test and Lifecyle engineering functions and may expand into additional functions in the future.

The ideal candidate must be able to think both strategically and tactically by continuously improving upon our SLM execution and processes used to manage the SLM lifecycle. They must be able to work in a collaborative and virtual teaming environment, as an engaged team member. This role will lead partnered efforts across DT and Engineering functions to implement centralized SLM solutions that provide the intended business value, optimizing software renewal processes for current and future plans.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Proactively manage software renewals to ensure they are executed on time, while maximizing value and minimizing cost for the business
  • Partnering with tool owners/SMEs evaluating software acquisition purchase and renewal request to ensure adherence to Enterprise Architecture Standards
  • Research solutions and licensing options with suppliers, and partner with the Supply Chain function to optimize terms
  • Support monthly AOP financial reconciliation reporting
  • Ensure procurement data for essential artifacts are captured and managed in the appropriate systems of record (quotes, utilization data, approvals, etc.)
  • Responsible for validating that software licensing records are created and updated
  • Provides audit support as required

    Minimum Required Skills:
  • Bachelors degree in IT or STEM related discipline with 6 years of directly related experience. In lieu of a degree, candidates with 8 additional years or 14 total years of experience working in a related field will be considered for this position.
  • Experience with managing large software portfolio (suppliers, licensing models, license utilization, tool capabilities and general taxonomy)
  • Experience with software license management compliance
  • Experience in defining and implementing valuable metrics for ES leadership
  • Experience with monthly actuals and risks and opportunities
  • Experience with software asset management lifecycle (planning, Acquisition, Operation & Maintenance, Disposal & Harvesting)
  • Experience with developing efficient processes for managing software entitlements
  • Experience with enterprise software agreements
  • Experience working with asset management systems with database and workflow components

  • Experience working within a distributed virtual team environment, with proficiency in remote collaboration tools and practices
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills with ability to dynamically tailor communications effectively to different levels of the organization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Experience leading projects and process improvement activities to completion with successful outcomes and delivery of desired results
  • Experience and familiarity with engineering and scientific software tools, licensing models and agreements
  • Experience and familiarity with prevalent license management technologies used with engineering software (Flexera, Reprise, Sentinel, etc.)
  • Experience implementing process automation to reduce cycle time and manual labor
  • Experience developing process documentation and training materials
  • Knowledge of Eracent IT Management Center (ITMC)
  • IAITAM Software Asset Manager (CSAM) certification a plus
