Job Description:

Engineering Support Associates are responsible for developing their skills to provide support on modifying, installing, and repairing Engineering builds and systems. Work may include being assigned to a team of engineering support personnel that addresses a wide array of Engineering environments such as Prototyping, Radio Frequency, High Voltage, field service, engineering installations, and repairs of returned materials. In the different Engineering environments, the candidate will be responsible for learning and developing their skills to assemble, rework, and modify Engineering prototype sub-assemblies, final assemblies and systems per engineering drawings and/or work instructions.

The candidate will be required to learn to build, install, and/or rework Engineering micro-components and systems per engineering specs, drawings and/or maintenance manuals. The successful candidate will develop his/her demonstrative skills and knowledge required to effectively and efficiently repair or replace defective micro-components and wiring to ensure installations meet conformity and compliance. He or she will learn to conduct effective repair techniques using acceptable practices including dead-bugging, micro-soldering, and micro-wiring. The candidate will ensure that all work performed is properly and completely documented and ready for inspection. The candidate will comply with the companys FOD program, tool control program and all safety & security regulations. The candidate may perform duties at various locations within Raytheon Facilities. In addition, other duties not specifically stated herein may be assigned.


Job Responsibilities:

Build and modify Engineering prototype micro-assemblies and micro-subassemblies to ensure proper operation per established criteria. Perform required repairs to returned/damaged units back to an operational state. This may include:
  • Replacing engineering mechanical and electrical components.
  • Building cable/harnesses from schematics.
  • Identifying, repairing and replacing damage to wire harnesses and cable assemblies.
  • Setting up workstations to accommodate assembly build requirements.
  • Operating multi-meters or basic ohmmeters to conduct point-to-point current connection.
  • Keeping supervisor and/or Lead appraised of all unresolved and/or potential problems that would negatively affect schedules or quality.
  • Providing support to the engineering development team on all assignments and supports other departments with miscellaneous assignments as instructed by direct supervision.

Required Skills:
  • U.S. Citizenship Required.
  • Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance.
  • High School or equivalent and four years of related experience.
  • Experience with manufacturing methods and processes.
  • Assembly experience working from written instructions.
  • Experience working with creating and modifying professional documents.
  • Experience with fabrication processes such as bonding and coating.
  • Experience with mechanical fasteners.
  • Experience with configuration management principles.
  • Experience with managing multiple tasks, priorities, and schedules.
  • Experience using hand tools such as soldering iron, rollers, paper cutters, scissors, X-acto knives, and tweezers and able to work under a microscope for extensive periods.
  • Experience with Microsoft office tools (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.


Desired Skills:
  • Trade school or equivalent apprenticeship.
  • Associates Degree in a Technical field.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, electrical blueprints, electrical drawings, short correspondence, memos, and other similar authorized engineering documents.
  • CCA micro-manufacturing and micro-rework experience.
  • Ability to work within a fast paced Engineering Environment.
  • Motivated Self-started.
  • Cable/Harness build and modification experience.
  • IPC CIS J-STD-001 solder certification.
  • IPC CIS 610 Certification.
  • IPC CIS 620 Certification.
  • Experience with automated placement, SMT, wave solder, cleaning, and coating equipment.
