The Test Environments & Operations (TO&E) Department is seeking a Lab Lead / Aircraft Maintainer for its Flight Operations Section in Tucson AZ. This candidate will perform in a dual-role position reporting to a Section Head within the TO&E Department. The idea candidate will be highly motivated, creative and innovative, possessing strong organizational, coordination, planning, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Job Description:

As a Lab Lead, you will be responsible for maintaining multiple classified and unclassified engineering lab areas supporting a variety of Program engineers. The ability to collaborate with customers, employees and senior leaders when implementing process and procedural changes is a must.

As an aircraft maintainer, you will be responsible for the ground handling (to include engine runs), inspection and maintenance of a single Challenger 601 aircraft. Other duties will include assisting with the periodic inspection and maintenance of a Cessna T206 and Convair 580 aircraft.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

Lab Operating Procedure (LOP) Management;
  • Provide direction for lab users on established policies
  • Management, coordination and implementation of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) protocol
  • Property and Metrology asset management
  • Perform cost analysis to ensure task completion within approved budgets
  • Provide process support to Supply Chain Management (SCM)
  • Assessment preparation and support, lead audits, oversee engineering lab objective evaluation and EHS Voluntary Protection Program assessments and assist in the development of long-range objectives, including program goals
  • Responsible for safeguarding of classified/proprietary material, hardware and documentation, utilizing defense material/property under Export Administration Regulations
  • Develop and implement communication plans, providing support to functional and program leadership
  • Coordinate with site Facilities to complete building repairs and periodically, escort outside vendors

Aircraft Maintainer Responsibilities:
  • Perform ground handling, inspection and maintenance on an assigned Challenger 601 aircraft
  • Perform monthly (at a minimum) engine runs on an assigned Challenger 601 aircraft
  • Periodically assist with servicing, maintenance and inspection on assigned Cessna T206 and Convair 580 aircraft

The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Associates Degree in an Aviation related field or related degree with a minimum of five years prior relative experience.
  • Typically requires an Associates Degree in Aviation or equivalent and a minimum of five (5) years of prior relevant experience. Willing to consider two (2) years of directly related experience in lieu of every one (1) year of education
  • Secret clearance (Top Secret clearance preferred)
  • One (1) year or more experience with EHSS processes including OSHA and SDS requirements
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)
  • One (1) year or more experience with security compliance and government regulations to include NISPOM/JAFAN standards
  • Must have Challenger 601 aircraft maintenance experience (with engine run qualification)
  • Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) License
