Contracts personnel are entrusted with our most important asset: the trust and respect of our customers. The official face of Missile Systems to the customer, MS Contracts personnel handle essential communication, negotiation, and contract management throughout every phase of our customer relationship. Its no small task, either. Currently, the team helps manage over 15,000 contracts for 8,000 programs supporting customers in 80 different countries. Working as a strategic business partner within Missile Systems, our ultimate aim is to deliver balanced, equitable deals that ensure mutual long-term success.

Contracts has an opening for a Sr. Contract Negotiator or Contracts Manager, based on experience, to lead Missile Systems Maverick and HARM programs in the Air Warfare Systems (AWS) product line. The person in this role will be responsible for the management and administration of a diverse portfolio of contracts. The Contracts Lead can expect to be engaged in a broad range of activities, including management of production and integration contracts to accelerate delivery of technology to the US Military and our allies via DoD, FMS, IOT and DCS sales.

Duties include a role in Request for Proposal (RFP) assessment, capture and proposal strategy, contract negotiation and general contract administration. The successful applicant will be a key customer interface for contracting matters and will be responsible for establishing and maintaining trust and cooperation while ensuring that proposed and negotiated terms and conditions comply with company policies and guidelines.

This role offers a unique opportunity to propose, negotiate, and manage domestic and some commercial and international efforts. The varying programs offer an opportunity to work with a diverse set of customers. The full life-cycle of the programs can also be experienced in this role from development, to production and sustainment. Creating creative business solutions tailored to each customer will be a necessity for the programs. Leading this small team (of 2) provides to many learning and leadership opportunities. Because of its international content, opportunities exist for learning and partnering with the ICO. This position is a great opportunity to get a breadth of exposure to a variety Contracts topics.

U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance within one year. This is a remote/telecommuting position with program office being located in Tucson, AZ.

Position Expectations:
  • Ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts and other business arrangements; ability to contribute to negotiation strategy and possess strong negotiation skills.
  • Capable of multi-tasking and handling several contractual assignments concurrently
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proven strong work initiative and ability to adapt to new challenges and ideas
  • Effective communicator both orally and in writing; strong analytical skills; strong interpersonal skills

Required Skills:
  • 6 years of related contract administration and/or customer interactions experience including proposal preparation and contract negotiations.
  • BA/BS in Business, Finance, Management, Communications or related field
  • Exposure to FAR / DFAR terms and conditions and/or terms review & negotiations.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired Skills:
  • JD or MBA
  • Existing DoD Secret clearance
  • Contract administration experience with the US Department of Defense (DoD) and DCS
  • Focus on responsiveness with strong time management and organizational skills
  • Previous effective interaction with customers
  • Ability to work within an integrated product team and foster trust with external and internal customers
  • Computer proficiency, experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and shared data bases
  • Experience in price negotiations
  • Ability to influence while maintaining positive relationships

Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a Secret security Clearance. Non-US citizens may not be eligible to obtain a security clearance. The Defense Industrial Security Clearance Office (DISCO), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. Security clearance factors include, but are not limited to, allegiance to the US, foreign influence, foreign preference, criminal conduct, security violations and drug involvement
