Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Air National Guard Program Office (ANGPO) is currently seeking a Senior Research Associate for a full-time research faculty position at our program office headquarters in Arlington, Virginia or at our program office in Atlanta, Georgia.  The position will control and manage the research and development contractual and business research operations related to Electronic Warfare and flight test execution. This position will be responsible for multiple projects at the Air National Guard Air Force Reserve Test Center (AATC) and the Advanced Airlift Tactics Training Center (AATTC).


  • Coordinate with Project Directors (PD) to develop and specify technical requirements, schedules, and program risk analysis
  • Research and define sources to develop purchase plans and provide procurement support for AATC, AATTC, and program office requirements
  • Conduct analysis of and coordinate program office contract based processes in support of ISO 9001 compliance
  • Utilize and provide expert guidance to program office personnel on internal project management software systems
  • Develop and maintain an Excel-based charge plan management tool for monthly and annual reporting
  • Coordinate and support development of research documentation to include monthly/annual research reports, technical documentation, and other project deliverables
  • Develop and/or maintain a software system to monitor, collect, and revise sponsored research project deliverables to meet program contractual obligation
  • Assist Project Directors with contract set-up, modifications, and close-out
  • Perform Analysis of Alternatives (AoA) research and generate reports for component and subcontract vendors
  • Assist Project Directors with establishment, management, and close-out subcontracts and consultant agreements
  • Develop long-range financial forecasts and maintain long-range financial plans for program office research operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

10% - 25% travel

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Master’s degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Business Administration or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree; or
  • A Master’s degree and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree.

Senior Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate

  • A Master’s degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field and seven (7) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree; or
  • A Doctoral degree in Aerospace, Computer, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics, or related field and four (4) years of relevant full time experience.

Note: Consideration may be given to those holding at least a Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of related work experience

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite software applications such as Word, Excel, and Access
  • Program and operations management experience
  • Experience with US Government contracts and subcontract management
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program and operations management experience
  • Experience and/or training in process improvement
  • SharePoint setup and programming experience
  • Experience with military research and development projects

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.

Clearance Type Required

Ability to obtain Secret Clearance upon hire
