Job Description

The Sponsored Project Researcher in the Radio Frequency (RF) Photonics and Advanced Materials (RFPAM) Division will provide project management support to a ten to twenty-five member team of multi-disciplinary engineers and scientists to achieve project objectives and milestones. A technical project director is assigned to each project and will retain the final project authority. The sponsored project researcher will work alongside of the project director to assure all project management requirements are met and provide project management guidance to the project director concerning processes and procedures that would be beneficial to the project.

Job Duties:

  • Collaborate with Project Directors (PD) to develop and specify technical requirements, schedules, and program risk analysis
  • Utilize and provide expert guidance to division personnel on internal project management software systems
  • Coordinate and develop research documentation to include monthly/annual research reports, technical documentation, and other project deliverables
  • Develop and/or maintain software to monitor, collect, and revise sponsored research project deliverables to meet program contractual obligation
  • Develop and present technical presentations for internal peer reviews, sponsor reviews, and business development initiatives
  • Collaborate with Project Directors on contract set-up, modifications, and close-out
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Risk Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist/Associate II

  • A Masters degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Risk Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Masters degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Risk Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelors degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Business Administration, Management, Information Technology, Risk Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of program management and/or cost account management experience
  • Experience in risk management tools and decision making
  • Experience in developing metrics and/or providing real-time analysis on project milestones
  • Experience with technical programs and technical operations management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a direct program/project manager role supporting government sponsors
  • Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Six Sigma Black Belt, contract management, or other related professional certification
  • Active SECRET security clearance

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
