Our team makes a difference in protecting our actively serving military men and women both at home and overseas. An opportunity exists within the Patriot Fielded Systems and Validation Department in Tewksbury, Massachusetts with the Patriot Classroom Trainers team; Patriot is the world's pre-eminent air defense system, and we are currently developing Patriot Classroom Trainer software in support of new system capabilities. The job requires a well-disciplined individual with a proven applicable technical background, who is able to thrive in a dynamic agile environment and is able to work well in a team setting.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Work with a team of software and systems engineers to develop and test these new capabilities.
  • Work within a team of software engineers to Design, Code, Test and Integrate new and enhanced Patriot training capabilities.
  • Support team improvements to process, tool usage and customer coordination/support.
  • Provide technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems that are imaginative, thorough, practicable, and consistent with organization objectives.
  • This position may require some travel.
This position requires extensive interaction with other groups including Software Integration & Test, Software Validation, Information Technology, Quality Assurance and Security.

An advanced degree in a related field may be substituted for additional years of experience as follows: Masters is equal to 2 years of experience or a Ph.D. is equal to 4 years of experience.

This position can be a Software Engineer or a Senior Software Engineer based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position

Qualifications you must have:
  • 2 years software development/integration experience
  • C/C++ and/or Java programming language skills
  • Experience in an Agile/Scrum team
  • Demonstrated experience with hardware and related software/hardware interfaces
  • Bachelors Degree or Better in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance within one year of employment.

Qualifications we value:
  • Active DoD clearance
  • Masters degree in Mathematics, Science, or Engineering
  • Experience with software development techniques and tools (e.g., Clearcase, Git)
  • Experience with TCL/TK
  • Experience with Linux Shell Scripting (Bash, TCSH, SH)
  • Experience with software development on Red Hat Linux
  • Ability to implement requirements from design through integration
  • Ability to install software on computing systems and troubleshoot hardware/software operation issues
  • Prior Patriot experience
  • Ability to recommend improvements of processes, systems, and/or products
  • Ability to provide guidance, coaching, and training to other employees within the job area
