The Communication Applications team is seeking a passionate and experienced blackbox testing and automation engineer to find major problems in our software before it ships. Our team designs and engineers the communication cornerstones of iOS and macOS: the Messages, FaceTime, and Phone applications. We need someone inspired to invent new ways to test, to find problems no one else could, and to build amazing products. Ideal candidates are comfortable working in an exciting environment with rapidly changing priorities.

Responsibilities include:
Working side-by-side with developers and peers to author and execute manual and automated test plans for new features prior to their announcement and release
Determining the reproduction steps, scope, and customer impact of bugs
Coordinating testing efforts across multiple teams for major new features
Escalating critical bugs and working with developers to prioritize fixes
Providing qualitative feedback on new features
Ensuring Messages, FaceTime, and Phone provide a superior experience on new hardware

Key Qualifications

• 2 or more years experience crafting, maintaining, and executing tests plans at all application layers
• 2 or more years experience performing blackbox testing
• 1 or more years experience writing and maintaining automated tests
• Proficient with Python and/or Swift
• Adept at writing actionable bug reports using software like Bugzilla and Jira
• Skilled at debugging, troubleshooting, and critical thinking
• Experience with cross-functional projects
• A great teammate with the ability to act as a mentor and peer leader
• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
