Job Description

The Electronic Systems Laboratory (ELSYS) Electronic Systems Integration Division (ESID) is seeking a Software Engineer / Windows Programmer with the ability to design, develop, and support mission-critical systems on military platforms. ESID is predominantly focused on the research, development, design and application of software supporting a variety of fielded military applications with emphasis on Electronic Warfare (EW) and avionics systems.The successful candidate will embrace the challenge of inserting modern technologies into these aging, complex systems. In this role, you will perform as a software engineer and Windows Programmer for a mid-sized team of engineers executing ongoing sponsored programs to sustain EW systems deployed on DoD platforms.


  • Develop software for Military applications including Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553, military data links
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineers to specify high level software requirements
  • Develop software and software requirements using approved coding standards and processes
  • Document proposed software requirements using appropriate visualizations to support technical presentations

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist I

• A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.

Research Engineer/Scientist/Technologist II

• A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or other technical field and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
• A Doctoral degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering or related field.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with Windows programming
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of full life-cycle software development process
  • Experience conducting technical presentations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in several programming languages and software applications including C++, C#, GUI, MFC, WinForms, WPF/XAML, MVC, MVVM, SQL, XML/XSD, MSBuild, MSTest, NUnit
  • Experience leading small teams
  • Active SECRET clearance

U.S. Citizenship Requirements

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
