Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is seeking an enthusiastic and passionate software engineer to support our efforts in device configuration software development! In this role, you will experience both agile software development and testing while developing user facing windows application and web applications. The majority of software development is being done in C#, TypeScript, and ReactJS. Knowledge in these technologies and some understanding of automated unit testing and writing automated unit tests will make you a stronger candidate! If you join our team, you will work with a small, collaborative group within our larger Research and Development division.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Participate in the collaborative design, implementation, and test of full-stack software systems.
2. Understand hardware, software, and human interactions -- by collaborating with Firmware, Hardware, and User Experience Engineers.
3. Mentor other Engineers and Technicians.
4. Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles.
5. Understand. Create. Simplify.
6. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

B.S. in Computer Science, or equivalent.

Knowledge and experience in web supporting technologies (JavaScript, CSS, HTML5).

Knowledge of C# and the .NET Framework or .NET Core (or similar technologies)

Understanding of modern web development. (e.g. ES6, SPAs, NPM)

Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills
Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities
Ability to work in a highly collaborative team environment
Background check results satisfactory to SEL
Negative drug test result(s)

Preferred Qualifications

Full stack experience with some of the following technologies: .NET Core, GraphQL, ASP.NET Core, ReactJS, React-Apollo, TypeScript

Experience with User Experience design

Experience with revision control systems (Git).

Experience with automated unit testing (MSTest, NUnit, Jest).

Knowledge of Agile development principles and processes.

Familiarity with the electrical power systems industry
