Job Description

GTRI's Applied Systems Laboratory in Huntsville, AL is seeking a mid-level Systems Engineer with at least 5 years of experience in systems integration and test of complex systems and system-of-systems. The qualified applicant will become a member of the Cruise Missile Defense Systems (CMDS) Project Office as a keystone member of the Systems Integration effort supporting Integrated Fire Protection Capability (IFPC) and the Multi-Mission Launcher (MML) teams.

Job Duties:

The successful candidate will be responsible for activities including but not limited to serving as technical Point of Contact (POC) between CMDS SE and SW Directorates, PEO M&S SE, and USARMY Test Personnel, providing engineering support across all physical and software interfaces, and providing technical expertise on all aspects of MML HW and SW.

Education & Length of Experience

Research Engineer/Scientist I

  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required.

Research Engineer/Scientist II

  • A Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and three (3) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree,
  • A Master’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science and five (5) years of relevant full-time experience after completion of a Bachelor’s degree, or
  • A Doctoral degree in Engineering or Computer Science.

Required Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering or Computer Science is required, plus at least five (5) years of professional work experience in Software Systems Engineering.
  • Familiarity with UML and SysML tools, specifically MagicDraw.
  • Familiarity with requirements management tools, specifically IBM DOORS.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the IFPC and MML integration effort into the Integrate Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS) baseline program for CMDS.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated, possess leadership and communication skills, and be capable of working in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Knowledge of network communications protocols and Data Distribution Service (DDS) is also a plus.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a classified environment is a plus.
  • Candidates holding an active SECRET clearance will be given preference.

Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
